Cloud9 and CLG have secured the second spots in their respective groups at DreamHack Open Montreal, moving on to the playoffs.

After North and Immortals went 2-0 in the group stage and moved on to the playoffs on the opening day of DreamHack Open Montreal, the remaining six teams battled for their ticket for the semis on day two.

The action kicked off with Gale Force - CLG, with the series turning out to be smooth sailing for Kenneth "koosta" Suen and co. who picked up a 2-0 victory (16-9 Overpass, 16-1 Cache). In the elimination match of group B, Luminosity was able to take down Complexity in two maps, but the series was a much closer than the first one of the day (16-13 Inferno, 16-10 Train).

CLG got their revenge on Kinguin in the Group A decider match

The first decider match to take place was between CLG and Kinguin. The two sides met earlier in the tournament when the Poles 16-4'd the North American side on Mirage, but this time around the story was a bit different. Kinguin had a decent start on CLG's map pick, Train, but Pujan "FNS" Mehta's side was able to recover and then hold on to the lead for the majority of the map. Ethan "Ethan" Arnold was the main man for his team on Train, which CLG won 16-11 in the end.

On Mirage, CLG had a relentless Terrorist side, allowing Bartosz "Hyper" Wolny and co. to pick up only a single CT round after the pistol and the subsequent anti-eco. Kinguin tried their best to mirror the North American's Terrorist half, but ended up picking up seven rounds before CLG closed out the game 16-10 and secured a 2-0 series win.

A dominant defensive half display on Cache, Luminosity's pick, set up Cloud9 nicely in their series against the Brazilians. The team's new addition William "RUSH" Wierzba was on fire on the first map, securing the most number of entry kills (5) as well as kills in total (33), while dying the least out of all the players on the server (13). With statistics like that, a Cloud9 win was inevitable and they picked up Cache with the final score being 16-12.

Cloud9 move on to play North tomorrow

Moving on to Train, Luminosity wasn't able to do much in the first half, which they played out as Terrorists. With only two offensive rounds and Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato, one of the team's up and coming players, unable to get on the board, Luminosity had no chance to mount the comeback and Cloud9 were swift to close out Train 16-5, making the series a 2-0.
